The Italian Consortium for Nanoelectronics and ARCES - University of Bologna, are proud to announce the fourth summer school on "Semiconductor Device Modeling and Simulation" to be held at the historic Bertinoro Castle (Bertinoro (FC), Italy).
This comprehensive set of classes is aimed at doctoral level researchers from both industry and academia and will be taught by world's leading experts in the fields of device modelling and characterization. Via a programme consisting of lectures, tutorials, advanced discussion groups, students will expand and refine their knowledge of the design, optimisation, simulation and characterization of cutting edge Nano-CMOS devices.

The SINANO Summer School has been held in  2005, 2006 and 2008 in the framework of the SINANO European Network of Excellence, and is currently continued under the auspices of the NANOSIL Network of Excellence, the SINANO Institute and of the Integrated Project GOSSAMER, three European research initiatives bringing together the top European Universities, Research Institutes and Companies with expertise in advanced Nano-CMOS technology, devices and simulation.

The aim of the Summer School is to further enhance the knowledge of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in the advanced modeling, simulation and characterization techniques amenable to conventional and novel nano-CMOS devices. It will discuss the device physics and the corresponding models, numerical techniques, programming and simulation tools, and experimental characterization techniques.

In addition to the usual topics of the SINANO School, a session about technologies for energy harvesting and a special session on advanced non-volatile memories have been included in the program

The 2010 edition of the School will take place at the Summer School facility of the University of Bologna, located in Bertinoro, a picturesque medieval village with modern educational facilities and conveniently located in the hillside vicinity of Bologna. Please take a look to the facility website www.centrocongressibertinoro.it

The 4 days program of the School will be dedicated to the following topics:

  • Variability and atomistic effects in advanced CMOS technology
  • Transport models for device simulation
  • Non-volatile memories
  • Analytical and compact models
  • Technologies for energy harvesting

There will also be a comprehensive social program attached to the course including a social dinner.

Over the next couple of months we will be adding information to this site with details on how to register, accommodation, a full program and list of guest lecturers.
Please
download a printable flyer, and tell your friends and colleagues about the Summer School.
